THE CALLING
St Paul, MN USA
2024

Standing at the entrance to University Park at United Village, “The Calling” serves as a beautifully-designed testament to the State of Minnesota, its people, its strength, and their legacy. This gift, commissioned by the William and Nadine McGuire Family Foundation and funded with the help of the Minnesota State Arts Council and Snelling Midway Redevelopment, is viewed as an important step towards the revitalization of the Allianz Field neighborhood that was formerly an abandoned bus barn. Designed by artist Andy Scott Sculptures and fabricated by Los Angeles based Dyson & Womack, the art piece The Calling features an impressive 90' wingspan and rises 32' into the air with the help of no interior skeleton. The structural art piece stitched and overlayed ¼” thick stainless-steel plates together in sections that were trucked to the site with final welding of the exact pieces on site.
